Default hvac problem

Hey folk's I went to turn on my ac about a week ago and my fan motor will not work! I can feel cold air coming through the vents when I'm moving down the road. So I know my system is still working. Could my fan switch have gone bad as I know the hvac controls tend to have problems in the 6th gen montes .that's what I'm leaning towards. I don't think the fan motor is bad because it didn't give any hints of any problems. Any advice? Thanks

If the blower motor is good and works if you apply aux power to it then my best guess would be the "blower motor resistor". This resistor is used to dial in you fan speeds. Did it just stop working or at some point in time did you not have all your fan speeds?

This resistor is known to go bad, but if you do replace it check the wiring as sometimes the wire breaks through the insulation and shorts out the resistor. If you just replace it and have an exposed wire the resistor will just short out again.

Have you checked the blower motor fuse? When the switch is in the high position it bypasses the resistor so if you don't get power to the blower motor in that position the problem is something other then the resistor.
