Default Free Air Subs in the Rear Deck?

Hey Everyone, I had an idea that I've been tossing around for a bit and wanted to hear some input from you all...

What do you think about eliminating the 6x9's in the rear deck, fabricating the deck a little, and placing two 8 or 10 inch subs in place? (Powered with an amp in the trunk). I think you could do this somewhat professional looking and have some good base coming at ya. I'd probably be using the adapters that many of you have used to grab the feed from the rear speaker wires (that way I can leave the stock head unit and speakers in the front for now).

What are your guys' thoughts? Black 2000 Monte Carlo SS, tinted windows.

Thanks!

I always thought it would be cool to fiberglass the rear deck ;]

But why doesn't anybody actually do it? It seems like a decent amount of work and a couple of $$, but I feel like I'm missing out on a big "no-no" that keeps people from doing it?

I wouldn't do it for the subs, but I'd like to see 6x9's fiberglassed in the back window

Interesting. I'm definitely gonna keep thinking about it before I buy anything.

i thought about leaving the 6x9's and putting a free air 8" or 10" in the center, but i would be worried about extra noise for the bass and just the one shot to cut the hole. but its something ive thought about also. if you do it i would love to see some picts of the job and after!!!!

Default Midbass????

I thought about some free air midbass 6.5"s or even 8"s if i was feelin frisky matched with a nice component set or at least the 6x9's and separate tweeters this would be a great step up but fiberglassing is a must painted to match the car baller!!
