Does a 2007 radio fit on a 2002?

Default Does a 2007 radio fit on a 2002?

does anyone know if a 2007 monte carlo radio fit on a 2002 SS?i know it might fit properly but will it have any issues with the harness or any wire issues?

It will physically fit but won't likely work because the 00-05 uses Class-II signaling and the 06+ uses CAN

idk nothing about that signaling but, as far as i understand a normal after market deck, pwoer is power, if you can get it powered, wired to speakers it should technicly run, but idk about it working with the factory amp, i suspect that's what he's talking about, but i really don't know nothing about factory decks, i genraly don't use them :-s might also not work with the steering wheel controls, that also might be what he speaks of?

You can't get it powered... there is no +12 accessory wire, it uses a digital message over the databus to turn on (just like the 00-05), but the databus format is different between the 00-05 and the 06+

dang!someone is selling one for $30 and would way rather prefer the 07 radio over the 02.I love my steering wheel controls tho!is it possible to connect the steering wheel controls to an aftermarket radio?

yes, with a steering controls wiring harness form crutchfield or sonicelectronix. it has been discussed a few times around here.

soooo even if i ran my own wires to the 07 radio, it wont work properly?
