will a 2000 3800 fit on a 2002
Yes it will fit , because it's the same 2000 /2005 ..
you know it's funny as hell,my cousin say I can have the tranny too !!! I wasn't planning on taking it but it do make since, I will just pull the whole damm thing out & put it on the side for just-n-cast, thanks for the tip man !!!!!! His son wreaked it hitting a dear & it just sat with a top cover on it ever since, when it ran it where like a caddy.... That's how quite it was !!!
If the motor sat a while, check EVERY rubber hose. Those like to deteriorate without having fluids running through them.
Also you'll be swapping every fluid anyway, but just make sure you get them all.

If it sat for for a really long time I would change everything, basically strip it down to the bare motor and change everything over from your current motor. Also you may want to make sure it will start and run first before you pull it. Maybe even get some fogging oil and spray it in the cylinders. I'm basing this on it sitting for like 10 years in the elements, never being touched at all.
