Ok so I got my New alternator from DC a 250 Amp. It fixed my lights blinking when the bass on my sytem hit and has made every light in the car brighter. But my batery guage is still doing the same thing. no change. Any other ideas on what it could be??????

Anyone have anymore ideas on this? My volt meter has been running slightly high for a while. Yesterday after driving for 45 minutes the volt meter spiked and the battery light came on. I shut the car off, waited 10 seconds and fired it back up with no problem.

Well I never figured mine out. Brought it to the dealer and they tested everything in the system and never found anything wrong. The next step would've been to replace the cluster as they thought something went in there which was causing the miss-reading. But I never replaced it. Good luck with this one.

I replaced my alternator and I still notice that on a longer drive (45 minutes) the volt meter climbs a bit. When I sit a light (with car in drive and foot on the brake) it seems to go down after a while.
I tried a friends OBDII reader on the car but it did not have any voltage data to display so I am not sure what the exact voltage creeps up to while I am driving.
The yellow arrow below shows where it runs normally after the new alternator was installed. The gauge is shown where it creeps up to after driving.
My dad works at a garage and someone suggested that the meter runs off a bi-metal strip that could be worn/wearing out.
Thoughts?

My car does the samething, when i drive the volts will go up and when the car sits and idles, the voltage will drop, thats normal because it will never just stay at one steady voltage but move and I also have a stinger volt meter that shows more clearly the voltage. You have nothing to worry about only when it drops or increases dramatically you will have a problem. That is if it stays at that low or high voltage.

As long as it stays between 12.3 and 14.8 you are good.

I run a scangauge2 as well as that gauge to monitor everything.

Chibi,

What do you use the gauge to monitor?
Does the Monte Carlo output a voltage signal?

The scangauge2 plugs into the obd2 port and pulls the voltage signal in numerically
