Default AUX input in stock radio -04 Monte Carlo

Hello

I'm wondering what other peoples experiences have been and how you've gone about adding an AUX jack to the original stereo in a -04 Monte Carlo LS.
I'd like to know if it is easy or just too much work, I'm somewhat familiar with electronics and can solder.

Its got an original amp in the trunk but no CD-changer, stereo got a CD player.
I did read about soldering two cables directly on to the left and right channel inside the stereo, anyone tried this method and how did it go?
We've tried the bluetooth to FM/AM-band sender but its just awful.

Replacing the radio with an aftermarket stereo is not entirely out of the question but people say anti theft lights come on and on top of that we would also loose the service light computer so I'd like to avoid that.

Well, the EASY method is just get a FM modulator/transmitter device that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Those are usually pretty cheap and do the trick.
Another option, aftermarket radio.
Third option, steal the audio channels from the XM system (assuming you have XM). And if you don't have XM, you can go crazy like I did..... Here is what I did with my 2004 Monte:
