Default All service lights coming on

On my 2004 monte when I hit for my rear defrosters to come on on the climate control, all my dash lights come on(like the break, security light, abs light and others). Also my gauges stop working and go back off like the car is off. What could cause this?

Possibly a BCM issue... I had a lot of dummy lights go off in my car, but that was literally seconds before my alternator took a ****.

I looked inside my fuse box and notice that the relay for the rear defogger was burnt and melted some of the plastic. what would make that happen?

Maybe a dead short on the line. Look at you defroster and see if a line came off and it touching the other.

Default attachment of the rear defrost

That thing that adheres to the rear window to defrost it fell off. Do I need anything special to reattach it?

I believe you can buy a repair kit at most auto parts stores, they have them up here at Canadian Tire. It should come with what you need to get it fixed

  • Repair a Rear Window Defogger - The Family Handyman

Most auto parts stores stock rear window defogger repair kits. The two most popular are the Permatex Complete Rear Window Defogger Repair Kit No.

Yes. There is also a connector on the end of the passenger side of the dash that has a tendency to get hot and melt. This may also be part of the problem.
