Default aftermarket deck/MC help

i want to put in a aftermarket deck, but from what i have heard from bestbuy if i do i will lose that message display box, that says low tire pressure, change engine oil, low washer fluid etc...is it true? and if not what do i need to do to keep that. it is a nice feature that i don't want to lose. i also heard that you can lose your dome lights, airbags and the security cause it all runs through the stock deck. let me know. Thanks!

Who ever you spoke to did not have a clue what they are doing. I know for my 07 I can get this little device:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-XgaVAsT...x?i=120OSLAN01

Take a look at

http://www.crutchfield.com/

Click on Car Audio/GPS and outfit my car. Enter your info it will tell what you can fit in the car.

This box that I got for my car will keep all the dash controlls and what not.

usually an expensive device, they also make sure your air bags deploy upon impact... thats the main reason I installed one when I did my system.

I have a 03 SS i never put anything in my car other then the wire harness adaptor. everythign worked in my car other then the door chime. Witch i was not real worried about loseing it anyway. The only other thing i did lose was the steering wheel controlls over the radio. cruse still worked fine.
the other thing is i lost the ability to reset codes fro low tire pressure and oil life etc... threw the stereo. BUT you can do those in other ways also READ your manual and you will see more on this subject.

BUT
this is a myth that i would love to get stoped.
you will not lose
lights, headlights, airbags, use of your window switches etc.... this is a bad joke someone is playing on you

You only loose chimes. Airbags still work fine. But for some people that like to have chimes and what not they might want the harness.

i thought about just moving it to the trunk, cause i will be making a mount for my amp anyways so i could just cut a slot and install the stock in the trunk then. and i know i can get an extra harness that will allow me to keep my steering wheel controls. and my monte carlo is a 2000 sorry for not saying that before, so i don't have on*star. or the BOSE system
