Adding subs to 4th gen SS no firewall hole??
i had 3.5's in mine they fit but i couldn't put the grill back on and the pocket for them are extreemly shalow i'd say buy the 4x10's and toss them in the back, up front i'd say if ypu can find 3's that fit do it, or look at dixie mont carlo they have kick panels and door botoms so you could put speakers there,
i had an alpine deck, Durabrand(walmart) 3.5's up front, dual 6x9's (the ones that you can hook up the lights) in back, 2 10in sony explode subs with a custom box(2 12in box i mad a new face to fit the 10's) powering the subs where 2 dual 150w rms 300 peek amps i got alot of complimemts on how it sounded, i had people blown away that i was only running 10's and no amps powering the component speakers! and how cheap my set up really was,
basicly do what you can afford/think will sound good

My head unit pumps out 65x4 so thats what i am doing, just goint straight from the head over to the speakers, as for the rear, i wonder if i can find just ONE kenwood 4x10 to match the other. For the fronts i'll look into what i can find for 3.5's. As for the subs i plan on putting in a capacitor since i have a kenwood 660 watt (way underpowering) 2 12" kicker cvx's (750 RMS) a piece. I dont want to fry my alternator already. As for the subs, i have them sitting as far back as possible facing the front of the car because There is a dip in the trunk in the 4th gen and its only about a foot deep but the rest of the trunk towards the back is wide open. Any suggestions? its pretty loud now, but I'm wondering what you have done.
i had mine facing rearward at the verry back, had my amps mounted on the hump over the rear axle,
i have a pic of my amp set up in my garage, i tried to get the img code but my phone wasn't letting me,
The dip that is on the passenger side at the back of the trunk is for the spare tire,
capacitor and all that jazz i don't know too much about becuase i didn't do any of that becuase only had 300w rms 600 peak and my lights didn't dim,
i'd say alteast just make sure you have a good and large batery, and probably upgrade/add a ground on the bat and upgrade the alt wire going from the alt to the bat

i'll go to your garage to take a look, but doesnt having your subs facing the rear all the way in the back counter act the bass? Good idea i'll check ebay. Also for the amp, i think im going to mount it to the box because i really dont want to drill any holes or put screws into my monte if i dont HAVE to. thanks budsjlm
Ok i saw your picture but i dont see the subs which way they are facing, the subs you said are facing the back or firing towards the front? Also for your power cable, is it just one coming from the battery and split to each amp? or how is it set up? thanks.
i don't know if i have a pic of my actual subs, but they where firing rearward, i have messed with it facing forward and rearward with the subs i have in my saturn and i have just always found rearward gives it more umph to the bass, the notes seem to be deaper, it may sound wierd but i listen to metal it always trips people up my blairing metal and having subs
my power wire i ran a single 5 guage(i think) wire from the bat to the back and if you see the the fuse holder inbetwen the two amps, i took the fuse out and put a piece of metal in there and split it there

Oh i see what you did. when i get a chance this weekend i'll see which way sounds better. I always had my subs firing towards the back but never have i had a car with a hump like that in the back. I thought the subs firing towards the back but being so close almost touching the trunk cancelled out most of the bass. I'll expirement with it. I too listen to metal mostly as well but i occasionally want to bump something hard.
