06-07 montes came with amp only if you have an LTZ or an SS which included the six speaker package including the amp(bose i think). Our LT's didnt come with them!

Would it be difficult to wire up a stock amp (plug it in and go) if it didn't come with one?

Does anyone have a picture of a stock amplifier in place?

What type of Monte Carlo do you own now LS,LT,LTZ, or SS?

Does the stereo for the 06 sound the better, same, or worse as the 04?

Thanks

06 SS, pic is in my signature. I agree, the 04 sounded louder, don't know if you would call it a better system but it was louder.

I had a feeling from the very beginning that this stereo was a low volume system. I found a couple links online where other complain about this issue. I guess I need to just accept it. I like the new style head unit, I just wish it was little louder or easy to modify without having to take the car apart to replace speakers and run wires.

Default Adding an Amp

I have the stock set-up of the basic non-Bose speakers and head unit in my Monte. I have already looked under the rear deck tray and there is no amp.... With theft with fancy Head Units seeming to be on the rise I settled in my mind on just maybe adding an amp where I have none. Does anyone know how many watts the head unit puts out and how much power can my stock speakers handle???? When I purchased the car in Feb. the salesman told me I only had the base system and not the bose. I would prefer keeping everything stock as the car seems to attract way too much attention as it is. Welcome any advice.
