That would make sense. I like all 3 brands but I've always liked the Alpine cust service and their equipment has always been great for me. Can't say I've heard problems with Kenwood or Blaupunkt either, I've just been consistant.

Being an elctronic technician most of my life, I can say this, almost all radios, computers, tv's, microwaves, irons, etc, etc, etc, are made in the same 3-6 Chinese factories.

Kennwod is made in the same factory that Alpine and Blaupunkt are made.

They just pay for 'private label licensing' is all.
I kinda agree, but I kinda disagree. I know for a fact taht Alpine is based out of, and creates their equipment out of, Japan. Tokyo and Iwaki to be exact. They are not produced on the "mass level" like other cheaper brands. They frequency test every piece of equipment that comes out of their factory, and have their design and specs for their magnets patented, and they are only used in THEIR factory.

VCR's, TV's, Microchips, etc. Most of those, as you stated, are built in Chinese factories, on a mass scale.. however Alpine, is not one of them.

Hope this helps

I wonder if this is one of those false internet postings:

Summary: Top of the line Alpine car stereos, some costing up to $1,300 each, are made in China by young women who are paid 31 cents an hour and sit hunched over, staring into microscopes 9½ hours a day, six days a week, soldering the fine pieces of the stereo. Above the women is an electronic scoreboard which monitors their progress in meeting their production quota of 720 stereos a day.

I do agree with your customer service assessment.

WELL then. I stand, or sit rather, corrected. Good find =)

I read alot on the internet, and I guess I take too much for granted. I was blatantly incorrect, and I apologize for my misinformation.

I also think that I misinterpreted the article I read a while ago. They are DESIGNED in Japan.... oops.

Sorry everyone for the wrong info. I know when to admit that I'm wrong, and I am most certainlyincorrect!

=)
