i have a factory radio w/ cd & casette player it has RDS also, it came out of my 2002 Cavalier Z24 i was wondering if the radio will work in my 2001 Monte Carlo without reading "LOCKED" after i install it

pretty sure its the same harness, i think if its already out of the cavy it will already show locked..theres a code to unlock it using the numbers on the stereo itself but im not exactly sure what it is

 

its only locked if it autotheft was set to on. i took mine out of my truck and sold it on ebay no problems because it was never set. if it is set, there are ways to unlock it without going to a dealership too. but if the wireing harness isnt the same, you would need a wiring diagram to make it work. and some functions may not work if one or the other radio wasnt equipt with it

 

the auto theft must have been set bcuz i put it in my car and it said "LOCKED" i wish i could get it unlocked though it does has the same wiring harness everything hooks right up kinda like plug and play
