after my DOHC died i did the 3800 swap and have my old exhaust and headers on it. it sounds deeper but has a little drone that the dohc didnt have.

you can click the links in my sig for pics and info about my dohc build. if you need tuning i still have two 96 pcms that i can flash and get you some more power. if your handy with a dremal you can port your intakes and delete the air pump ports in the exhaust.
Now that sounds like a heck of a set up. Thought about doing away with the resonator but dont want the drone. So I think I may copy your set up a bit.

I think I saw your car on youtube actually. Running against a newer Mustang.

What ever help u need let me know. Tuning made a great deal of improvement for this engine. There is a bunch of untapped power hidden in them.

Yes that was my z running against the newer mustang.

You mentioned reflashing the pcm, how hard is that to do?

its not really difficult to reflash the pcm. all you need is a DHP power tuner. but the company is out of business and now the website/forum is no longer accessible. Even after you have the tuner you will needed to know what to do with it. I have 6+ years of experience tuning the DOHC engine. most over the counter PCM vendors only have experience tuning the 3800 platform and some have ventured into the 3100/3400 sfi engine. but none have the back ground with the DOHC that I do. I had spend 2-3 years perfecting a new spark table that drastically improves low to mid range power. The main complaint with the power of the DOHC is the lacking low to mid power. My PCM tuning fixes that and IMO is the reason for my record setting 1/4 mile time.

oh wow. yea that is one thing i've noticed about my car. seems like it has that power band of a turbo 4 banger, nearly nothing til it gets up to about 3500 rpm. Granted i still need to do a tune up on it but i know i wouldnt mind extra overall power. where's the pcm loctaed on these cars? How much would you want for one of those 2 pcms if ya flashed for me?
