Okay I see, is that air horn deal stock? I haven't really taken the intake apart and looked around yet, and it's under 20 degrees out right now (Didn't stop me from washing it though) so I don't feel like yanking on the damn thing. First thing first, check out eBay for a filter...

 

Yea, it's stock. It takes air from right behind the headlight. I got the filter off eBay for abot $35 plus shipping. Do yourself a favor when you pull the airbox: take off the corner brace- it'll save you a lot of grief!

I've been trying to make a CAI unit using the stock air box. The stock aitr box isn't as restricting since the inlet to the MAF adaptor goes through the whole air filter instead of a small tube. I did put a cone at the end of the MAF and got a way better "butt dyno" response.

I was thinking of putting the cone filter inside the stock air box and using a small PVC pipe and one of those roof flasks. Basically just replacing the small cover from the air box with those rubber roof things and enclosing the cone inside the air box. I'll try it this Saturday since just using a cone gave me a better response. It's worth it now i guess since its cold outside.

I found this thread(and your website) while doing a search for CAI setups for the 3.9L engine. I've got an '06 Monte 3LT myself that I'd like to get a CAI for. So where do things stand now regarding easyperformance/Wizaired making one of these for us 3.9 owners?

 

Last I had heard they were still looking for cars around wherever they're based to do some test fitting, so it looks like it might be awhile still...

 

Do what I have planned, but the K&N intake for the 5.3L and make a heat shield yourself for it

 

I kind of thought that. Guess these companies aren't in any hurry to make a CAI for us since our cars aren't considered performance models like the SS.
It's amazing how much your car and solaraslayer's car look like mine in your siggys! If I hadn't read earlier in this thread that you both have the amber bronze, I woulda sworn they were both dark silver like mine! (maybe I need a new monitor, lol)

 

I do have the dark silver actually, I don't think I ever said anything about having amber bronze... But yeah last I checked it was the Dark Metallic Silver paint that coated my car, with some shiny new black stripes that I just got on today and need pictures of...

But yeah, the fact that the 3.9L was only in the Monte in '06 probably influences the fact that companies aren't in a hurry. What would be nice beyond wishes would be to have the 3.9L thrown in the Camaro as the V6 version, that would get us some more parts...

As for why I thought you'd said you had amber bronze, go back to post #19 on page 2 in this thread. I still think solaraslayer's car looks like dark silver, especially when you scroll down page 2 and compare it to 06LT3's in the next post.
