more air into your cat through your exhaust which equates to more power because of the extra air coming in with an intake, its not required but it will help

You definitely do NOT "need" a downpipe if you're picking up a Wizaired. LOL

For comparison' sake, my SS M90'd 03 SS still has the stock downpipe and I guarantee that the Eaton sitting on top of it is pushing alot more air into the engine that a Wizaired ever will.
