Default Suggestions for exhaust upgrade path

Hello,

looking to do an upgrade for my MC SC 2005 exhaust. I am not ready to unload the $$$ on headers and the install, so I was wondering if I could just do the downpipe instead for now.

Will I be able to use the down-pipe later on or would the new headers override that and force the downpipe to be discarded?

I'd rather not waste the $$$ on a downpipe, powerlog, and new ported manifold if this will all be covered later on by the headers (ZZP headers)

comments? suggestions?

Headers replace DP, PLOG, and ported manifold.

Actually- if you're planning on buying that stuff brand new- just pick up some new SSAC headers off ebay- they'll be just as cheap as buying those other 3 things (only about $300 IIRC), and they'll work just as well as the ZZP headers.

id get the dp anyway. i mean if its gonna be a while till you get the headers you could always sell the downpipe after youre done with it you know?

Default exhaust.........

..My wizaired is here now. Later in the future; I'm looking at a
Magnaflow system. Should I start with a Catalytic convert then
work my up to the remaing exhaust ?
They look easy to install....err uhhh supposedly easy. Bolt on, Right ?
I want that low rumble as best a V-6 can do.
Just getting opinions but this isn't my thread....sorry.

Depends what you're going for- performance wise, the magnaflow exhaust won't do much of anything- but if you're looking for a sound change, then the catback is where you should start (because anything ahead of the resonator doesn't really change the sound a ton).

If you're concerned with performance, you should instead look into a new downpipe and a powerlog, or some headers. You won't get virtually any sound change from either way- but you'll get a lot more performance gain.

sorry to be a thief on your thread but i was wondering if i could ask a question about my mufflers?? anyway could some one tell me what i can buy to get a little better performance, im not sure if my mufflers are the best flowing (i dont have any reason to think this) but what are some good options on mufflers on the 3400?? i got some great pipes and such just need some opinions on performance mufflers. id like to be able to switch every once and a while. (i got welding skills and use of a mig so id be able to switch whenever i want) thanks. (sorry i stole your thread for a second :l

and im not tring to argue with you bumpin but, when i got my DP i noticed a HUGE difference in the sound of my car. But mines the 3400, it looks like you have the 3800 with a supercharger. that probably makes quite a bit of difference huh??
