Guys, I really do not think that a small 1 inch gap will be that big of a deal. The box doesnt line up correctly. I have maybe seen 1 or 2 guys who had it right.

Either way, that 1 inch gap I doubt will make a difference. It shouldn't let much warm air get in there and at the end of the day it has to be better than the K + N filter which isn't enclosed at all.

That is true but for the money you want it to seal up as good as possible and get any performance gain out of it you can

It has a little extra juice from what I can tell. My homemade foam gasket is holding nicely. Also have seen 3 mpg more so far. The best part is the sound it's producing. It's pretty mean. Lol Now I think I have a bad wheel hub or speed sensor getting service traction control message on the dash under heavy throttle and it will jerk as if the traction control is engaging.

X2... Bang on...... When we are dishing out $250.00 of hard earned cash, it better be perfection... It's the same as painting your car, I paid $8,000 and they fixed every blemish because, damn, I paid for perfection... Just my opinion...

That is exactly how I feel. I am so picky with it comes to anything with my Monte. Everything has to work/look 100% best it can or I will mess with it until it does

luckily I only have about $75 in my CAI intake
