Resonator Delete Gains

Resonator Delete Gains
Was at the track and made a few runs with the Monte which is the 3.9 V6.
Only thing I have done is remove the resonator and replaced it with a straight pipe.
Last year when I was completely stock my best run was 15.620 at 92.020 MPH
This year my best run was a 15.338 and my best MPH was 92.93
So it looks like I gained just a little by removing the resonator.

I doubt the difference is because of the resonator delete. At the 1/8 mile track in one day my times varied by more than a 10th. That would translate to probably 2-3 tenths in the 1/4. Alot of things could make you run a little faster in the 1/4. Experience, temperature, wind direction ect.

You know what though, I kind of believe that it was the res delete because I had a similar experience back in the day. When I had done a lot of NA mods to my Monte, I was able to run a 14.6@94mph, which included no cat and no res. But my fiance at the time (wife now) complained that my Monte was too loud so I had a res installed. It felt like it was slower. So the next season I went and raced again and I could only muster a 15.1@92mph, with the only difference since the 14.6 run was that I installed an HV3 and a res. A little while later I removed the res again, and it felt like my Monte was alive all of a sudden. It ran GREAT without a res. Then I installed a set of TOG headers and ran a 14.4@95mph. So, the only thing different between the 15.1 time and the 14.4 time was headers and no res. I HIGHLY recommend getting rid of resonators now that I've seen that.
With that being said bearbear3_4, you ran two great times. My stock run was a 15.7@86mph. To see you run a 15.6@92mph stock is insane (insane because of the trap speed). I can pretty much guarantee that you would have never ran a 15.3@92mph stock (I ran a 15.3 after I had my GT1 cam installed).
Keep up the good work!

Oh, whoops. Lol. In that case, I agree. A 15.3 is very feasible bone stock so I'm now not sure if it really did anything or not.
bearbear3_4, what were your 60' times? That could explain the better 1/4 mile times.

I didn't expect really any gains with the delete. But the 6 runs I did, I was 15.3 every time. My best 60' was 2.317 which was my first run with a 9.966 1/8 mile and 1/4 of 15.359
I don't have my time slip from last year only what know what my best time was.
