Default Resonator delete?

Hey all,

After installing my exhaust cutout, I've fallen in love with the loudness of my car, haha. That being said, I'm interested in making it louder yet. Does anyone have any good advice on doing a resonator delete? I've seen videos on youtube that make it seem like a great next step. Is it difficult? Will it make a noticeable difference?

Here's the cutout video: 2006 Monte Carlo SS DMH Cutout - YouTube

If you have a cutout, why do you need a res delete?

That's just the thing, I don't know much about the whole idea. Isn't the resonator just another damper to the exhaust? My cutout comes right before the y-pipe splits to the mufflers, so the resonator is still doing its thing...correct?

Typically when you put a cutout in your exhaust it is done before the Catalytic Converter (or right after) so that when you have it open there is ZERO restrictions, and then you can close it because you don't always want that much noise.

Can you move the cutout?

I would think moving the cutout further up the exhaust would be better, this way if you hate the loudness, closing the cutout will solve that problem. Until you NEED or want that loud.

The closer to the front of the car, the harder it is to weld that cutout in. It would just make it a bigger, longer project than I'm wanting right now. Maybe I'll just wait, leave it where it is, and buy a bigger downpipe later down the road.

a lot of ls4 guys were placing the cutouts right before the y facing down and to the right. pretty much made the car straight piped, but dampened the sound a bit with the cat, res, and piping. i think moving it at this point would wind up costing more than its worth. the op should just get a hogan catless down pipe, and ditch the resonator. the downpipe is a bolt on part and the resonator he could have a piece of pip welded in.

Why's is make it harder? Put it right after the cat, it'd be the same as welding right before the y-pipe?

I say just move the cutout to after or before the cat
