new exhaust?
alright thanks for the information. Where I live there are no strict restrictions on emissions so I dont have to worry about removing the cat. I looked up the non fouler method and it seems quite simple. Im just wondering how you can get the codes permanently removed from the computer. would I have to go to a mechanic?
Thanks again

click the link and it will send you to zzps website. They have a lot of 3800 (3.8) mods. They offer their pcm with the code delete. You have to select the code out of the drop down menu.

As I said earlier, have the code permanently deleted from the PCM with a tune. This is NOT done with a scan tool (that is "clearing a code). Deleting a code is basically the PCM has no knowledge of it and therefore is unable to throw it because it's unaware it exists.
You need an HP Tuner or DHP Tuner or another similar device. Many companies offer these services with a tuned PCM:
- PCMforLess (they tuned my PCM and deleted the code)
- ZZP
- Intense
- OverKill
- Check local shops that dyno tune cars
Personally, I would wait until you have ALL the mods done and have a company performance tune the PCM and delete the code at that time.
I initially was not planning to mod my Monte to require a performance tune, but one thing lead to another and here I was. I was prepared to try the non-fouler trick if I had to (ran with the High Flow cat for a year, never had the code pop up, parked it for the winter, modded it in the spring, tuned and code deleted, all good).
As an FYI - HP Tuners require credits per vehicle a company tunes. This is why the base cost from any company to touch your PCM might be high. IMO, if you don't need/want the PCM modified for performance reasons and are NOT doing mods that REQUIRE it to be tuned, your only reason to adjust the PCM is for a code delete, I would do the non-fouler trick (it's going to cost less then $10 from the auto parts store vs a tune that is going to be $100-$150 plus cross shipping the PCM). Again, I was going to do the non-fouler trick if I had to, but after all my mods, I had to get the PCM tuned for the car to run right.

Thanks DRuben for the link, it gave me a good idea on what the tune would cost but I have decided that i will use the non fouler trick for my exhaust.
The_Maniac, thanks for all your help. As i said I will be using the spark plug non fouler method. Thanks again you have been alot of help and I now have a good understanding of what I will do.
And everyone else, thanks for your knowledge. I appreciate it.
