Magnaflow Cat. FAILED EMMISSIONS ,
ok i was wondering it also explained when i went to va for vacation in febuary when i bumped some thing or some road debries hit my exaughst. the shop that fixed and put a magniflow one on said go on the high way for a hour and come back. didnt know what they ment other than seeing if every thing still was ok when the looked at it. i thought they were just checking the welds for it. i looked at the paper woek it said computer check and weld check. i didnt think any thing about it thanks for the heads up.
the EMMISSIONS place said the car needs EVEN MORE drive cycles.. Not enough to do a test. I have put on 128 miles since I unplugged the battery, 15 drive cycles n still not ready.mthe EMMISSIONS place put on a sensor that will tell us when the car has enough info to do the test. Kinda cool, the CEL has Not come back on, the car runs great, just don't know how many more miles I need to put on. Never had an issue like this. I'm not saying its a big deal. Just time consuming and tired of driving nowhere ! I've gone up n down the highway so many times and can't believe I haven't got stopped by the police for going off the side of the road so many times (per drive cycle, "let the car coast to 20 mph without hitting the brakes and clutch, or shifting".. So.... I'm still driving in circles... I'll be back !
Well at least the outlook is promising. No CEL and it sounds like they are just waiting for enough monitors to be in the ready state so they can test it. Mix a little stop-n-go traffic in with your highway cruises so the powertrain is exposed to a various loads. Once enough monitors are ready I think it will pass no problem.
I failed the emissions test with my 03 one year cause I just got it out of storage and had the battery unhooked for 6 months. Now when I store the 03 I have the battery on a trickle charger so that won't ever happen again.
i would go to the country roads and just drive no where in paticular just to make it have the detailed list of every thing. hay 03ssle i noticed the washington plate as a profile plate are you still there? i would go to there mountan range one weekend and just drive it do to the different speeds and the load the engine puts out will help. i hope my sugestion will help
sorry i miss read it. what i noticed when i was in va when i changed my cat in my mustang for the high flow ones thats what i did go to the mountan range of shannondougha and drive it the different loads let it set it self up to pass. brand new compaired to stock that went bad. it had to pretty much hard to discribe be paired up in a sens with what the heat as well as what was coming out of the engine. gave it time to match up and pass with out worries.

Good grief, you have to go through a LOT to get that thing "ready". I'm wondering if it would have taken less effort to let the car clear the code on it's own....
