I know the K&N intake can give u a dozen more horses, if you're lucky, but how does it effect take-offs? Do u think you can maybe get a second better on a 0 to 60? And also, how does it effect your avg mpg? For the record, I have a 3.8, with an avg of 17 mpg.

you may take a tenth off 0-60... if your lucky. It will help with MPG. Not sure of definate numbers. I never had an intake, I just used a drop in replacement on my old monte. And I probably saw a 1 to 3 mpg increase on highway usage. It diffinately won;t hurt you, but one can argue if it's worth it's money vs. making an intake yourself.

i dont think milage is that huge of a gain with it either, you gain a bit of horsepower, but i think its mostly in the top end is where the biggest gains are, you will get rid of about a 1/10 of a sec off your time, but you will notice it more when your around 95-110 mph the car still wants to accelerate, more than it did before anyway

A K&N Intake gave me a solid 2 mpg on my 3.8SC. It went from an average of 22.5 to 24.5 immediately, as verified by my trip computer. I am getting 25.3 right now. I can't verify 1/4mi gains, just milage. Also, I had a drop in cartridge in my '01 and noticed very little gains.
By the way, the K&N intake has save me over $500 in gas since installing it, figuring $3.00/gal as an average! That's why I installed it after only 2 weeks of driving the car. I has almost paid for itself 2X over!

a K&N will only increase HP and improve mpg if the current sstem is undersized. some cars like the ls1 camaros have a big enough factory air box for their air needs in stock form... our cars can benift from more airflow. as you do other mods like exhaust cam ect and have larger air demands you will see more gain from the filter. all mods work as one.
