Default exhaust setup opinions

Hey guys! I was wondering what you guys think about this setup I'm thinking about getting. Again, I have money laying around from saving for the top swap I can't get. The setup would be Speed Daddy headers, the ZZP 2.5" offroad downpipe, Magnaflow resonator, and muffler delete. The diameter would be 2.5" throughout the whole system.

Thanks!
Tyler

Haven't you talked about this in other threads???

Headers come with a downpipe, you don't buy a downpipe if you buy headers.

I would just say get the downpipe and swap the mufflers for magnaflow. You straight pipes sound AWFULLLL on these cars.

Very nice!

So if I buy the Speed Daddy headers, all I'll need then is a resonator and some mufflers? I don't believe the cat is necessary unless I'm trying to save the environment. Also, how would buying all these things and getting a custom exhaust done (by a local shop, probably) compare to just buying a decent system?

What mufflers do you guys recommend? I was thinking about the Flowmaster 40s.

As long as there are no vehicle inspections in your state, you could probably get away without having one. However, it is illegal to run your car catless so you can get ticketed. Also, if you do remove the cat you will have to either have your rear O2 sensor tuned out of your PCM or get an O2 emulator.

As far as having a custom exhaust made rather then a complete system bought, there will be very little differences between them. It pretty much would come down to if the shop that you take your Monte to can do Mandrel bends or not.

From what I hear, Borla mufflers sound the best on 3800's, but 3800's don't sound good in the first place.

I'm putting exhaust on my 01 monte carlo ss this summer and i am putting magnaflow cat back on it with resenator delete and i have heard it on other monte's and it sounds really good for being a v6. also the k&n cold air intake system changes the sound and adds around another 14.5 hp.

If you take the cat off it you will continue to have have a light come on in it or o2 sensor error.

I wouldn't bother with headers on the NA engine. Install is going to be a pain, and somewhere might not do it for you if it is catless. Call around first.

After researching tonight, I've decided that I'm going to go with the 2.5" ZZP downpipe with cat, and the SLP exhaust system. Maybe I'll change out the mufflers in the future, but we'll see.
