Cutout- not cutouts, you only have single exhaust going back, and this only need 1 cutout.

The furthest forward you can put the cutout is ahead of the catalytic converter, right at the base of the downpipe- right at the bottom of the firewall (can't really do it any closer to the exhaust manifolds because they're up in the engine bay and there is nowhere to vent the cutout).

If you do it there, it is illegal (I really doubt most shops would put it on because they can get in serious trouble for bypassing a catalytic converter)- and it will throw a code (since you dump all the exhaust before it goes through the converter, and the rear O2 sensor never sees it).

That is why I did mine in place of the resonator, and why others do it back where it Y's. You're not going to gain hardly any power from it anyways, regardless if its up front on the downpipe or back at the Y- its more of a sound thing than anything, so IMO- you're better off putting it where you can't get in trouble for it.

edit- oh, and I've heard if you do throw an engine code (by bypassing the cat with a cutout) the remote start no longer works.

If you want more sound in the cabin, you can just have a Y pipe put in place of the resonator, and stick the cutout on the Y. The other option is to mount it further back by the rear suspension and such.

I did mine in place of the resonator, and wish I would've put it at the back- I get a lot more noise and vibration in the cabin than cars with it at the rear.

I have an 06 3.9 and I took of my exhaust just before the cat and ran that way at the track, I was slower. IDK about the SS but you might loose HP.
