Good call on EGR- that is definitely a possibility; if the car thinks its getting 100% fresh charge and fueling accordingly, and instead its getting a diluted mixture- its going to throw things off and misfire.

Hadn't considered the EGR. I'll add it to the "check this list". Again, thanks for the good info. As I said earlier, it was running fine until just recently.

and you know what?? if it is the same problem i was having, sometimes youll completely lose your powerband and it will just slowly go through the rpm range. youll feel like your going to blow your motor cause it take so long to get through even 1st gear.

If it is EGR, Seafoam isn't going to get in there. Since the EGR blows into the engine- you won't be able to suck seafoam into the EGR passageways, except as exhaust.

Best bet would be to pull it off and clean it up (the seat area and the valve and such)- not sure how you would check to make sure its fully closing, although I'd think you'd have a rough idle too (because its supposed to be fully closed at idle and under heavy load)- not sure what would make it close under one case but not the other?
