Default Aluminum Intake Manifold for 2001 Monte SS

I did a search but didn't come up with one. I have not logged in on in almost 2 years. My monte has 178K on it and runs great. just needs a little bit of work. going in friday for new tie rods, motor mounts, and new magnaflow Cat and mufflers. But im told the Intake manifold is warped. I had to replace the thing once because it filled with gas and went BOOM cracked it right in half. that was almost 2 years ago The shop that replaced it must have torqued it wrong or something. How a new manifold is warped I have no idea but the shop that did it wont honor replace for free so its going to a shop that has done all my preventive maintenance and they do a great job. I have come into about $4000 extra so I am throwing it into my baby that I have had for the past almost 7 years....SO it needs a new intake manifold regardless. were can I find a Aluminum one or maybe someone can direct me to a site were I can find the best brand so I dont have to worry about this agian. Sorry if this is a repost just need some friendly advise from some fellow Carlo lovers...Thank you all

JOSH

Look into swapping the lower intake manifold and upper intake from an l26 into yours. If you haven't replaced the LIM gaskets this would be a good opportunity to, but it will require some extra work.

Actually, the L36 and L26 UIM is EXACLTY the same. The UIM gasket is also the same. But if you are going that far, yes, change the LIM gaskets while you're in the area.
If interested in swapping for the L26 UIM, I am selling an L26 UIM....

no the l36 and l26 plenum are not the same, there is a port that needs blocked on the l26 plenum to be used on a l36. the LIM is the same. the uim gasket is different from the l36 to the l26 as well. also do be able to use the l26 uim on your l36 you will need a tb adapter so the tb can bolt up the the l26. i do agree since you are having the uim off pull the lim and put new aluminum lim gaskets on it.

the plastic uim are notorious for warping or cracking, there is no brand that wont do this over time.

Not sure what's different in the UIM gasket. I just punched up an '04 GP (which has an L26) on Rockauto. The AC Delco gasket they offer goes from '96-2004/2005 cars. Oddly, punch up a '05 GP and it has a different AC Delco part (only difference I see off hand is the collor of the rubber material on it). Maybe it has to do with some of the extra parts in the kit???

But as Turbo Monte pointed out, the L26 swap is very possible. Again, if interested, I have one I am selling. Turbo Monte has an L26 UIM on his car (and I'm sure there are others), we also have a member with a complete L26 in his Monte (swapped out a blown L36).

the sealing surface with the way the l26 sits vs the l36 is why there different. i thought they were the same as well, i used the l36 gasket with l26 plenum and had a nasty vacuum leak, put on a l26 gasket and it was fixed. i know there is a difference but i cant tell you where for sure (i never compared them)

I completely understand. Chaulk it up to a weird GM issue. I know I've seen my share of those.

Either way, if the OP goes for an L36 or L26 UIM, a new gasket is needed, might as well go with the best one for the job at that time.

X1000 on those LIM aluminum gaskets!
I have an L26 in my monte, you'll need an adapter from zzp to work with the L36 TB as already mentioned and also need to find a way to reroute your PCV vacuum to work properly
I Love the look of the aluminum UIM though
