The hanger that looks like a rod rusted off of the frame rail on my 2006 Monte Carlo..
It kind of looks like this, but without the 90 degree bend.
The piece that holds this pipe up. There is a rubber isolator between the rod on the pipe, and the rod on my vehicle.
It's right by the gas tank. Would a shop be able to weld it back on, if they fabricated some metal to it? I still have the rod. It's in good shape. The welds rusted away.
I was going to drill holes in the frame rail, and use a universal hanger, but then I figured I don't know if I want to go drilling on it. With the gas tank so close, maybe that is the best bet?
The exhaust is still very solidly hung. The hangers on the muffler, and by the resonator are still intact. I would rather get this one fixed so if another one breaks I don't see my exhaust in the rear view mirror. :P
Had this Monte Carlo since 2006, and it has 208,000 miles. I guess it is getting to that age where rust is sneaking in..
I'd just clean it up and weld it back on. If you don't have a welder, an exhaust shop would do it for pretty cheap. Quick 5 min job, especially with their lift.
You can get it almost anywhere. I got mine from Autozone. Amazon even has it.
Let me warn you. It will not last anywhere near a long as the stock pipe. I replaced the stock pipe at 160,000 miles. This walker had to be replaced at 200,000 miles. Only got 40k miles out of it.
Walker kind of makes garbage.
