Is my exhaust on my 99 Monte Carlo Stainless?
Did a search could not find any info. on this, dealer says they can't go back that far to tell me either. I'm assuming it is stainless, but just need to make sure about this, the I pipe hanger broke off on the pipe that's why I'm asking this. It's a 3.1. Thank you for the help.

No your exhaust isnt stainless if its the factory exhaust. I dont even know if the exhaust is aluminized. I know my stock exhaust was covered in surface rust when I removed it.

I'm almost 100% certain that the exhaust on the 1999 Monte IS stainless steel. I'm looking at the dealer brochure from my 1996 Lumina, and under the "Power Teams/Chassis" section, it lists as standard equipment - "Stainless steel exhaust system". I don't have the brochure for my 1999 Monte with me, but I'm sure it says the same thing. Whether there's various grades of stainless, I don't know, but that's how GM describes the exhaust.
Also in the brochure "The Lumina stainless steel exhuast system is designed to resist corosion. This value feature is standard on every 1996 Lumina."
I just noticed this tidbit as well - I'm sure that some (most?) would strongly disagree....... "Automatic transmission fluid should never need changing under normal driving conditions."
And did I mention the standard AM/FM electronically tuned radio? Also standard. Sweet.

Well the exhaust shop I've been going to for over 10 years swears on his life the exhaust is 409 grade stainless steel and for as old as my car is that it would of never lasted that long if it was normal aluminized grade exhaust. I'm going to have it checked out this week, I'm hoping it is stainless this will save on the bill for running duals out the back.
