Your views on extended service plans for your used Monte?

I purchased a warranty for my Monte. The first repair I put it in the shop for (front hubs/outer tie rods/4 wheel alignment) ran a bit under $1300 (my co-pay was only $70). Even if I never use the warranty again it has already paid for itself.

Yup, this trip was outer tie rods, intermediate steering shaft and alignment....$1005. Or about half what the warranty would have been. I'm thinking it's time to pony up. I appreciate all the responses, and to be perfectly honest I half expected to be soundly thumped for taking it to a dealer. Just based on previous experience on a forum for another car I once owned. thank God this is not that forum - I never would have asked on that one....On the bright side, I had the cash put aside for just such an event (thinking it would be further down the road!) and now the car drives like a dream....and that made it all worthwhile. Mama now gave me the go ahead to start stocking my garage with the necessities, jack, stands, drain pans etc. I'll feel better when at least the routine maint is done by me!

I had a 2 year warranty for $1900. Covered almost everything. Ended up using it for about $8000 worth of repairs. I recommend it but I heard it's a negotiable price. Plan was called mileage plus. Great program and can use any shop even chevy dealers.

I bought the 3yr or 113000 km GMPP for 2900$. Has 91000 kms. Ive already taken it for a the stuck key problem, they fixed that and at the same time unknowingly fixed the Service Air Bag alert. Frayed wires in the console. 100$ deductible. I purchased it a GM dealership.
