Why did you ?
I was looking for a sporty looking coupe that still had plenty of room to haul the kids. The trunk is huge and the V6's get pretty good fuel mileage for a car this size. Monte Carlos fit the bill perfectly for me. I think they're fun to drive too. I've always been a fan of this class of car (Monte Carlo, Thunderbird, Cordoba, etc.). I only wish manual transmissions had been available. I wasn't looking for a Limited Edition that was going to be parked every winter, but when one comes along in the same price range as regular SS's...
Did not even go in to the dealership looking for a Monte. But there sat this beautiful 02 Monte SS in the middle of the show room floor and I had a wad of money in my pocket....The cars aerodynamic appearance just sold me on it as a nice fast car. Did not even know it was front wheel drive for a few weeks, just thought a car like this would obviously be rear wheel drive. Kind of wished I had bought the 02 Camaro with the Vette engine , but it is what it is and I made it work. Happy to have it now as the Monte is a unique car as we all know now.
Monte's are special to me. I came home from the hospital as a newborn baby in a 1987 Monte SS. So a Monte was the first car I ever rode in. We then sold the 87 Monte when I was about 8 for a 2000 Monte SS and we still have it to this day. Then when I graduated high school I was looking for a car to go back and forth to college in and we found my 2002 SS sitting at a small dealership for an excellent price so we picked her up less than a week later. I have always been around Monte's, even my grandparent's have owned them. I will attach some pictures of our Monte's. The 87 is the one I came home from the hospital in. The third picture of the 87 is after my dad painted it. The red 00 is my moms and the black 02 is mine.

It was back in 2007 and I was changing Jobs and we needed a 2nd car. So one day I was looking thru the local Trading Post and seen were a Man had a 1978 Monte Carlo for sale for a 1000 and they were the first owner of the Vehicle. I went to the Man's House and it was Parked in his Back Yard. It had been sitting there for awhile but he started it for me. I didn't look at what was sitting in his yard........I looked at what I could do to that car. I paid the guy and drove her home (Out of Date Stickers and all) and started showing her some TLC and I still have her and she stills tells me she LOVES ME (and has never failed to) whenever I turn her Key. I LOVE MY CARLY!
i actually bought my first one in july of this past year. it was a 2000 ss. i loved the way it looked and drove but then i saw the 07 and realized it was in my opinion nicer and faster. i sold the 2000 ss in december and bought my 07 ss. its a looker and a nice fast sleek comfortable car with a great reputation.
We were looking for a new family daily driver. I wanted a Grand Prix or an Impala but when I drove the monte it was all over. It had all the things I was looking for in a vehicle. Good gas mileage, Leather interior, a sun roof and under a 100000 miles. Oh yeah it was under 8000 dollars too so it was priced right. The Supercharger and Victory Red paint didn't hurt either.
