Default Where to begin?

Next week I get my 1995 Monte Carlo Z34 3.4liter
Where should I begin as far as tricking it out and getting HP gains?
I'm on a limited budget,Want something that will increase HP and maybe increase MPG..
Suggestions welcome and specific brands help also..Thanks!
I was thinking Exhaust/Muffler replacements and Air Intake or Filter..
But the only Intakes I see are custom.I'm guessing most don't fit??

Kinda SOL. Your best bet would be simply a tuner from DHP or HPTuners $400 to $500, less used.

Considering the budget, you might look for someone in the area that can tune the vehicle for you and give them $100 or so. They can increase your timing and curve your fuel map.
