This thread makes my head hurt.

Pushing a 3800 to the limits also makes my head hurt. A scanner won't do anything for you, you will need a tuning program.

Are your tires rated for over 112?

i was going to say the same thing. ive had mine over 140, and ive seen stock ls4 cars hit 154. i dont know if thats what theyre governed at or not. theres been a lot of debate over this over the years. some of them having a different limit. i can tell you the 140 ate up a good amount of road.

Alright I was just checking because I've read where a scanner would work. And of course my tires are rated for over 112, I'm not a complete idiot. Haha

Need to have the PCM reprogrammed. Had my Grand Prix done and it did 130 stock.

Umm... I have the 3800 NA and I got mine spot on to 120 on a long stretch of highway once, right after I bought the car so the engine was bone stock. Granted I never tried it again but it certainly hit 120 before it governed out.

Never did I say it would STOP at 112. I said the cars start to fall on their face around that time. Meaning the point of acceleration becomes very slow. Yes it will still climb, but no you shouldn't be doing it.

Again, 4th gear is the problem on our transmissions, running these cars hard and into 4th gear is terrible. You need to modify, get the shift points changed, the PCM reprogrammed, and just run it until the top of 3rd gear.

You'll never run out of room on the 1/4 mile and be looking for 4th

I know you aren't supposed to do it, that's why I've never done it again lol. Probably also because an SUV nearly cut me off doing 120 and I would have most assuredly been scooped off the road after that.

New car + straight empty road + 18 year old = hmm I wonder how fast this thing can go...

Exactly. I got my GP when I was around that age and hit a straight road no cars, screw it. It was tuned and had the shift points changed so I knew it was safe to keep it in third. 130mph here we come.
