So I guess there is nobody with knowledge here?
FWIW, a lot of people on this forum either own the 4th gen and older Montes, or the 6th gen or newer ones. I don't own either at the moment, and my area of expertise lies with the 3800 series motors or the old carbureted or TPI SBCs. The 60* V6s are one area that I have very little knowledge about, other than basic maintenance. Most of the people on here are the same way and don't know much about the 5th gens, especially the 3100s (which were only used in a very small percentage of all the Montes produced between 1970 and 2006). The only other comparable motor is the 3400 in the 6th gen, which is mated to a different transmission than the 3100.
I'm sorry that your questions were not answered, but you have to consider what most of the people on here deal with and that the majority of them are not mechanical experts, and those that are only have expertise over a specific drivetrain. The 4T60 is not a transmission that very many on here have dealt with and it is significantly different from the 4T65. I know enough to know the difference between the two, but I could not give you advice on that particular engine/transmission combination. Most on here are like me and will not throw out possibly erroneous advice on things that they do not know about. For technical knowledge on those drivetrains, some of the GP forums may be a better bet as many more of the Grand Prixs used that drivetrain. Keep in mind that the 4T60 was only used during 3 years of production of the Monte as opposed to 6 or 7 years of Grand Prix/Regal/Olds/Lumina production. The 3100 was also used until 2003 in those other vehicles (2001 in the case of the Lumina) as opposed to only 1999 in the Montes.
I'm sorry you didn't find what you are looking for but I don't know what else to tell you.

This is a GREAT group of members here, and I'm proud to be a moderator here. We consider ourselves the MCF family, for the regulars. Insulting members that do not wish to mislead you with an unsure answer doesn't mean there is a lack of knowledge here. Not every question will get the answer you wish, or answered in a few minutes. Most all of us work full time jobs, at least all of the staff does, and none of the staff is ASE techs. Nor are we paid to do this job. We are here to help where we can. But the LAST thing we want to do is feed someone some bad information.
So PLEASE slow down with the insults. Hopefully someone with the exact car you have can answer your question. If we don't answer it quick enough for you, you CAN always take it to the service garage to get it worked on.
