As long as the car is in good shape, and you check it over and it rides well, there is no reason that it is bad.

On the 3800, 125k is nothing :P

The mileage being a 'downfall' would be dependent upon how the car was driven and cared for. I'd get the VIN then purchase a CarFax report. This will give you a better idea of how the car was maintained and/or if it has ever been involved in an accident that was reported to the police or an insurance company. If everything checks out okay then I would have a trusted/reputable mechanic look the car over. They should be able to identify any problems that may need immediate attention. You can use this info to negotiate the price of the car. If the seller is hesitant or refuses to let you take the car to a mechanic walk away quickly. Good luck.

WoW $4500 is a Super Price for a 04 Monte SS
Most are selling for around $8K to $12K..
I agree with Mod Mike, 125K miles isn't bad `if the Monte has not been abused...
If you are not a mechanic, find one & have him check it out.
Also, get a CarFax History report on this Monte...
It pays to do your homework/research when buying any car. Good Luck & let us know `if you get it...It sounds like a Super Deal 4-Sure.....Oh, Good Luck @ College

p.s. Thanks `Mike for your post (I was researching as you were posting) Great advice 4-Sure...thanks for helping a new member .....

The 3800 as stated is a great engine. I bought my '04 Monte SS in September of '08 with 52K on it and paid $9K for it (right around KBB for the car). It still has less then 70K on it now.
When I was shopping for a Monte, people with 6th gens between 110K-150K were asking a MINT for them!

Do the carfax, look the car over (top and bottom, inside and out). See how it was maintained, maybe even have a scan tool hooked up to it to check for any code issues. If it checks out, it's a solid buy. You may need to get lower intake gaskets done on it, but those are not a big deal.

Sounds like a good deal. Like others said check it over good or have a mechanic look at it if you don't know.
