Default Security issue

Not sure where to post this but I just wanted to give a little FYI. My 2006 LT was not starting. Has a new fuel pump, because that's what Firestone said it was last year and again this year, also has a new fuse box because there was an issue with a whole block on it with no power. Had it towed to the dealer and it turned out that the security system had locked my key out. They got it going and I picked it up last Saturday. This morning, won't start and it is on the way back to the dealer via another tow truck ride. I don't know if it's the same issue or not but it seems to be. Will let you know what they found. I don't understand why they can't tell me why this happened. Hoping for more info.

Passlock issues are known on 2000 and up Montes. I had mine replaced twice already.

I don't really know what it means to replace it? Sorry. I'm learning. I don't know how they got it going last week but whatever it was I'd like it done to last more than a week

On mine, they had to replace the passlock sensor in the ignition switch. It's something a dealer needs to do. Dealership told me that our Montes seem to have this issue quite a bit. But I agree with you. It should last more than a week. Take it back to the same dealership and make them fix it again for free. You shouldn't have to pay for fixing the same thing a week or two later.

Dealership told me when I was stuck with the passlock code. Leave the key turned in the on position, with the passlock error code lit up. Wait 20 minutes like that. Then try starting the car again. Most of the time it should start. If it does, immediately get to a service center before you get stranded again. Won't save you any money at the dealer. But saves you from having to pay for a tow.

This time my problem turned out to be a burned wire to the fuel pump. My MC is back on the road again. Hope it stays there!
