4th Gen ('81-'88): Removal of radiator on 1987 Monte Carlo SS - oops, disconnected AC line

I'm in the process of replacing the radiator on my 1987 Monte Carlo SS. The AC line runs over the top of the fan shroud. I didn't realize that it was the AC line and disconnected it. I have since found out that it shouldn't be disconnected. How much trouble did I cause by doing that?
Secondly, is the easiest way to remove the shroud by removing the straples that hold the two halves together? I was thinking of find that and reattaching it with screws.
Thank you for your assistance.

My limited experience with AC systems, no real trouble. But I would replace any o-rings or seals associated with that line before re-connecting. After that, you'll need to have the AC recharged. The biggest headache is that car was from the era of R12 refrigerant. You either have to go through a lot of trouble to source some R12 or look into converting it to R134. I have read so many topics about R134 conversions. For something that should have a science behind it, doesn't really seem there is much. A friend of mine literally pumped R134 into a 1991 Cadillac (did nothing else to convert it, just pumped in the R134) and AC worked fine for YEARS.
As for the rest of the task about removing staples, I am not familiar with the 4th gen Montes, so I am not sure what you are looking at.
