Default Question about removing the Resonator.

Hi I had a qution about removing the Resonator from my 2007 SS Monte Carlo, I wanted to know if by removing this will I lose low end torque? I really wanted to elimiate the Resonator to get a better sound from the exhaust but I don't want to sacrifice proformance. Any thoughts from any one that has done this or knows about this???

You won't affect low end power and if you do it is so small you wouldn't be able to tell. You'll lose some weight, make the car a little louder and with the rest of the exhaust being stock you won't have to worry about drone

Members report that the resonator helps keep the cabin quieter.

It may just be that the exhaust is just louder.

When I had mine done they left the resonator on and had me come listen to it, I said what the hell and had them take it off. Sound level wasn't much different without it so I'm guessing it was mostly cabin noise that changed.

ZZPerformance just told me to leave it alone, as unless you are making 400+hp, it doesn't hamper performance, and removing it will make the cabin howl. I've heard this before, also. Leave it alone. Replace the cat' forward system and leave the cat' back stuff alone.
I now have the 3" downpipe and Magnaflow high flow converter, and the ceramic coated power log manifold. I wanted the ceramic coated crossover and rear ported manifold, but they are sold out right now. Hot items, as are their downpipes.

Thanks everyone for the input, I'm thininkin of just leaving it for now. If its only going to make the cabin louder then it's not realy wortht he effort of removing it. THanks Again everyone.

i have mine replaced with a glasspack, its a great sound in my opinoin. i can see where people would get bothered by the sound, but i ride my mother around sometimes and she doesn't even get headaches from it. i guess my brothers loud stereo got her to where my loud pipes don't bother her

being as i had the whole cat back changed, i can't say how it affects sound by removing jsut the resonator alone... but i love the sound of my car, and i would definitly remove it again if i had it to do over again.
