I have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS with 164,000 miles on it. Sometimes while driving I get a power surge where the rpm's surge between 1500 and 2200 rpm's. ..I have replaced the fuel filter , plugs and wires and it still does it.Any Ideas as to what might be causing this? When it does it , if I floor it it runs fine , and when it gets past 2200 rpm it runs fine?

 

Possibly the IAC valve or MAF sensors are getting dirty.

 

Did you replace air filter ? anything in your air box/hoses maybe rat nest?

 

Yes , I changed the oil and Air filter too , didn't see anything that would clog or resrtict the airflow...I will clean the mass air flow senser , and this might sound stupid , but what is the IAC valve and where is it?...Thanks Guys !

 

Check your grounds! I have had RPM issues linked to a bad trans ground.
