the recall was supposed to be for cars sold in cold climates. the recall was for the power steering cooler line. i believe that later on the updated it to all of them. i had it done a few months back. the paper work i got in the mail last year about it said it was an open recall till feb of 2011. its like a 3hr job i was given a loaner. you should be careful driving it with it leaking. one of the guys on my other forum had the car catch fire do to this.

I had to replace both hoses on my 01 SS. Took about 2 hours. There are 2 hold down brackets. 1 is bolted to the block. It is hidden by a large wiring harness wrapped in plastic. The other is a bracket that attaches to the radiator cowling. Be careful not to pull to hard. Also buy a couple quick disconnect clips that hold the hoses to the rad and transmission. They have a tendency fly off when removing. They have to be reinstalled properly for the new lines not to leak. About 75.00 to do both.

Well Tom At the chevy dealer couldn't have been nicer. Drove in He took all my info. Told me it will be ready in 45 mins ! I just looked at him Said OK... 15 mins later. while I was looking at the new cars & trucks in the show room. Another manager comes up to me. Rick. Were sorry but this is going to take more then 45 mins. We were wrong to tell you that. How ever were getting you a loaner car to drive home with. I said thats fine. I'll take that Vette over there . Rode home in a brand new Malibu. Nice but not my cup of tea. Got home went to bed. I called them when I got up. It's ready to pick your all set. They even washed it for me. NICE!! Everything seems GOOD. Thanks for all you guys that tried to help me out. Thats what this is all about. Rick

Glad you had a good experience.

Didn't like the DOHC engine in the Malibu? I think it's pretty impressive for a 4-cyl

i got a malibu for my loaner too. the car looks nice but the two tone interior, the paddle shift that sucked, and lack of power drove me insane.

glad you got it all done, mine busted before the recall was out, and GM reimbursed me for the total amount i had to pay to my local shop when it did ...

when they replaced my wheel bearing i was in and out in 45 minutes ... prolly a much easier job

i have never had problems getting warranty work done, could be because there are an excess of probably 12+ chevrolet dealers within a 30 minute drive of me, they know they cant jerk people around

I think they all went to CUSTOMER Training School. Cause they were so nice. Seems like they could do or say enough to make me happy. Hey...Works for me.
