lol do it. get yourself a heep so i can have someone to talk to on jeep stuff beside crazyzach lol. just giving you crap zach you are cool. that zj pretty beat up lol, but trust me it's like modding your mc once you get started you always wanting to make it look better and starting wanting to add more stuff into it. look at the '92 turd i bought. was going to use as a beater and end up creating a new green turd. my suggestion is to get xj over zj just cuz the xj square body look so much better no matter what mods you done to it imo. plus they so plentiful parts to find in the jy. 84-96 interior/exterior are pretty interchangeable for most parts. 97-01 that's the last for those years. there are lot of pro/con for each of those year. what i like about the xj is you can using other parts like the neon injector, zj draglink/lower tie rod, seats, gas tank skid and bunches of other parts that im still do some research on. on the grand cherokee they different. can't use xj parts, well im sure you can but it's like down grading lol cuz the zj have better steering/suspension and seats than the xj. you can find a decent xj with good engine/trans but maybe with some minor body damages or little work for under $2000. all you do is hit the jy and do like what i'm doing.

But im not driving another winter in my monte. Iv got to much money in paint and body work for some idiot to go totaling it on me.

96 xj is a good year. they do have body cancer. the cancer usually found on both front floor panels, rocker panels, quarter panels around the wheel well fender flares and just about every where depend on how the po took care of it. came with 2 or 4 doors. 2 doors little rare but i think i like 4 doors better. if you like the 97+ look front end look you can swap the whole front header panel, grill, headlight bezels, front/side marker lights and front fenders. side mirrors can be swap too. front seats will swap too just use the seat rail from the '96 and mount the '97 plus seats on it. zj seats work too saw other xj members done it.

front is dana 30 high pinion and rear is either dana turdy5 or chrysler 8.25. 27 splines. 97+ with c8.25 are 29 splines. how to tell if it's turdy5 is if it have ABS brake system and the differential cover is rounder shape like the number 0. axle housing is smaller than c8.25. if you saw both housing side by side u can tell which is smaller. c8.25 axle housing is bigger and differential cover bottom is square off. looks like the number 0 laying on its side. does not have ABS brake system. ABS system is under the hood on driver side close the the driver side fender between air box filter and master cylinder.

flipping some wheels on craigslist today. bought a 16" wheels and tires off my buddy for $120. these are limited edition wheels only on 00-01 xj limited edition he originally asking $225 which is still pretty good price. i low ball him so many times but he won't take my low ball offers. well couple days ago he called me that if i can come with $120 today i can have them. went and picked them up and was planning to mount on my xj but change my mind cuz i like my 15" better. i listed on craigslist yesterday for $300 obo. sold them this morning for $220. i can live with $220

got the back seats done. still need to do minor adjustment. the cushion bracket needs to move up little bit cuz it's lower than the other seat. need to move the speaker sound bar up toward or backward more cuz who ever sit in the back seat will be kissing on the sound bar speaker grill lol.

That's a pretty decent profit to make on those wheels. Did you find any front seats yet?

my buddy started the pulling the rear diff off the C8.25 axle i picked up from the jy awhile ago to start the zj rear disc brake conversion. he said the it had been rebuilt before showing me the paint marks they put on the carrier and ring gear. it's a good pick up i know at least it got low mileage on the gears probably less than 100k miles.

install pass side zj seat today. was pretty easy. only 2 wires to hook up. ground the ground wire and run the power wire to 20A inline fuse and straight to the battery. redrill all 4 new holes for bolts. seat add about an inch higher than the xj. more leg room for the person sitting behind, not that im going to have people sitting in the back very often. seat is pretty comfortable power slide back and forth, tilt, cushion raise up and down, and lumbar. im pretty happy with the seat. now i just got to find driver seat so i can sit comfortable.
