Default New here and need help!

Hey guys recently brought a 99 Monte Carlo 3.8 like two days ago lol.And having some trouble! First off I noticed it doesn't have overdrive the transmission shifts smooth like a New one just no 4th gear. Now I noticed the brake lights don't work because of the turn signal switch is bad.I can wiggle it around the brake lights will work. Also I notice the speedometer is off by 10mph according to my GPS.Also i noticed the temperature gauge bearly get above 1/4 Mark.Would any of these affect the overdrive not to work?? Thanks

First I would like to say welcome! It's always good to see a 5th gen here, especially a Z34 with an L36. Feel free to ask all the questions you need to.

Make sure that the transmission is up to temp, but it's quite possible that the shaft is bad now. More info here: http://tripleedgeperformance.com/sit...Gear.html#3042

It sounds like your turn signal switch is bad. It's a common problem with our cars.

Also I notice the speedometer is off by 10mph according to my GPS.Also i noticed the temperature gauge bearly get above 1/4 Mark.Would any of these affect the overdrive not to work?? Thanks
There's a few things that could cause that. Do you have the factory wheels on or aftermarket? What size are the tires on your wheels?

Your problems are not related to the overdrive problem. It's just a bunch of problems that you have with a used car.
