Personally, I think a major issue is which body style do you like better. The two are very different. Performance wise, I think you'd enjoy both roughly equally. It's the statement you want to make while driving. Typically, a coupe has a sportier look than a 4-door. Where the 4-door typically says family car. But that thinking is changing with all the performance sedans out there.

I love the Monte Carlo. But I have to say that between the Pontiac Grand Prix and the Monte Carlo, the Grand Prix is probably the more up to date in styling. But keep something in mind. Both models are discontinued now that the Grand Prix is being replaced by the Pontiac G8.

I'm a big fan of coupes, so the choice for me would be simple. In fact, I can't think of a 4-door I would buy at the moment.
