My 85 Monte Carlo's life story
i was thinking summit 1103 214°/224° duration@.050 int/exh .442/465 lift int/exh, 58cc but i've read that most are actually like 60cc valves are 1.84 int and 1.50 exh runners are 170cc int and 59cc exh, i'm running an afaper plate becuase the carb is a square boar and the intake is spread
not a bad cam choice. its very similar to the one i ran in my 80 when the 400 was stock. i wanted some quick hp on a budget. i ran that cam with a torker 2 intake with a 750dbl pumper. the cam wasnt noticeable sound wise, but it went pretty good. it probably only made 275hp, but it still felt pretty good. it didnt last long though. didnt do bearings like i should have. the part store didnt have them in stock and this was to be a weekend project so i could have the car ready for work on monday. ended up having to pull the motor out and disassemble it to find the crank appeared to be walking in the block from a life time of hard launches, multiple spun rod bearings and trashed main bearings. all in all im surprised it made the power it did at 8:1 compression, with the horrible factory heads, and when i pulled the rods the rings crumbled. it was like giving a 100yr old man a healthy dose of viagra. this is exactly why i suggest whenever someone does a cheap cam swap on an ancient motor to spring for bearings. personally if i were you i would have gone a step up from the cam you picked since you intend to eventually do a set of heads on the car. cam swaps with the motor in the car is annoying and something i personally dont like to do unless theres no other choice.
got a centerconsole lined up!!! from a local mn gm performance forum

my frame is sitting in the back yard all tarped up... snow needs to leave! i have a ton of cutting, wire wheeling, sanding, welding, painting to do deffiniatly keep thing updated once i start more work,
and the center consol never happened i pm'ed back and forth probably 10 time, gave him my number and he never held up his end so may just be scouring the j/y come that time, been thinking about how much moding it would take to fit a 6th gen consol,
