Default My 85 Monte Carlo's life story

I bught it from a friend after he had crashed it into a pole at his work... i bought it for $400+ a little financing from my buddy and bought a new header panel and bumper skin from him, got a new aluminum bumper support from a junkyard

since i have owned the car i have put on a new steering wheel(grant)
replace endlinks and sway bar bushing with energy suspention polly's,
i had 2 dual amps with a set of 10 in subs an alpine deck and dual 6x9's in back and cheap durabrand speakers in back( it suprissingly sounded awsome for how cheap my system was)
i got a autometer monster tach from my bro and wired that up never really mounted tho,
exhaust wasn't cutting it so chopped out stock cat back and replaced it with a cherry bomb off the y pipe and too part of the original exhaust and cut it so it exited befor the rear tire on the pass side

this is what it looked like the day i bought it

after a bit of work

and for the most part a paint job
after daily driving it and spending $50 a week + atleast $50 on the weekends becuase gas was $3+ a gallon and my gas miliage was dropping and over like 2 grand it would start poping throught the carb and for the life of me couldn't figure it out i started to tear into it

turned out i had one cam lobe compleatly rounded

Can't wait to see it finished

How long do you think before you can fix the motor and drop it back in?

Mike, i'm hoping by the end of the summer i can have it up and running, my buddy rick gave me his old motor out of his 74 blazer(the yellow one in pics above) its a "305" i gatta double check the castin number cuz when i fist looked at it and googled it came up as a 350 and i know the heads from it are 350 heads so i'm just going to trow a gasket kit on that block and run that for now,

Thanks space, it's a gift i'm glad i have

staring at the motor my budy gave me a while back and ran the cast number all comming back 350!!!
1978-85 14016379 350 - - - car, truck
14016379 BJ 350
1978-85 14016379 350---car, truck
14016379...350...77-79...2 or 4
14016379 350 2 77-79

a comparison of the two my 305 head gasket against the 350's... the 350's is on top of the 305's

you can see how much skinnier the gasket is in between the cylender bores
