Most important for NASCAR victory??
Okay gang, back to the topic of NASCAR.
This only pertains to 'oval' track racing.
What wins a race?
Remember, Tony Stewart gave all the credit to the team for 'dialing in' the car properly.

RE: Most important for NASCAR victory??
i believe its a little more than 1/2 driver than half team...maybe like a 60/40 or a 70/30, i'm starting to lean towarts 50/50 more than in previous years though..
my favorite driver as you all know is jeff gordon, and in previous years it was his pit crew that lost him races, he would go into pit road in 1 or 2 or 10th or whatever and would always lose a minimum 3 spots, most of the time more, and his pit stop was always close to the slowest of all 43 cars on the track, however they have picked that up now and they're either gaining or staying the same now, so i'm happy with them again
i think the team has a lot to do with it, but also so does the driver and car

I think it alot of its tires....I know its in the movies, but I agree with Harry Hyde in Days of Thunder...
"If you get out there and burn up the damn tires, Cole, we're never going to win anything"
It don't matter how good you are as a driver, how good your car is, or your crew... if you burn up your tires, you can't control it... you can't keep the car going fast in the turns. If you're dealt a bad tire, o well. How many times have we seen a driverwith a good car lose becasue he blew a tire or was dealt a bad set?

I'll second that vote for tires.
I've been animate about voicing my opinion about the team's role over the driver.
After the Joliet race this weekend, I'm now leaning towards Goodyear as the predictor of who wins.
Remember, Nemachek blamed Kyle for his spin but Kyle never touched him. Nemachek never knew that he just lost traction.

I'm going half/half. Tires are very important, but those degrade on drivers skill, track abuse, and how the car (suspention, ect) is made. Everyone is dealt the exact same Goodyear tires.
A poor pit crew with a great driver won't be enough and vice versa. In the grand scheme of things at this level almost everyone is at the same skill level. A good chunk is stratagy and drivers knowledge of the track.
