New York Auto Show: 2008 Cadillac STS Shots And Details
Filed Under: Sedans, New York Auto Show, Cadillac, General Motors, Future Vehicles, Automotive News April 6th, 2007 2:00 PM [/b]12 Comments[/b]
Although there was precious little pomp and circumstance surrounding its debut, New York marked the coming out party of Cadillac’s revamped-for-2008 STS sedan.
The new STS gains a reworked grille (said to be inspired by the brand’s Sixteen concept car) and a pair of air vents just ahead of the front doors, along with things like polished 3-inch exhaust tips, chrome-slathered door handles, and reworked rocker panels. Yes, it’s true, we barely noticed. Did we mention that there’s a new 18-inch wheel pattern?
Inside, Cadillac has looked to amend the STS’ lackluster interior, giving it a new steering wheel, along with available Sapele Pommele wood trim and a new center stack with metallic surrounds.
Underhood, the V-6 STS gets an engine upgrade in the form of GM’s 3.6-liter direct-injection high-feature V-6, which gives 298 horsepower (+40) and 268 pound-feet of torque (+16). A new performance package for Northstar V-8 cars and the rear-drive V-6 (AWD remains an option) is also available, which includes uprated Brembo brakes and summer tires).
The revamped STS is expected at dealers in mid-summer.

Space,
Thanks for taking time out of your busy day to post more information that touches each and everyone of us.
24_48Fan,
A friend has a 340 Demon just like this one. A very nice car with an original 6 pack hood.
He pulled the 6 pack scoop off, sliced a big hole in the hood and slapped a blower on the 340. Then he pulled the stock wheels/tires off and put on S/S Cragars. Eveyone loved this car.
Get this............. he traded a guy from KY even up his Demon for a sight unseen '71 Cuda.

For GM this shouldn't really be that difficult, they are just delaying. They need to make a big push into fuels and government needs to support them.
1. Do something really smart and bring back a Fiero like vehicle. 2 seater, light, commuter car with small turbo engine. Hell my old one got 35 and that was with a 2.5L POS engine. I'm sure if I dropped a new Honda Civic like engine in it I'd pull around 40-45.
2. Take the Prius concept of an electric hybridengine and drop it on a majority of Saturn vehicles GM sells. It will cost more, but these are cheap cars directed to young adults and families. Push for more 6 year loans. Call it the GREEN line. With the budget GM has they should be able to throw a few bucks into R&D. This is saying alot as they should have already dropped this money to copy their competitors and learn from them. Sure GM is having money problems, but not to the extent to gip out on this kind of competition.
3. Give some of these vehicle the option to run Ethenol only. Not hybid where they get *** gas milage, but bump up the compression ratio from 9.5 to 15 where E-85 shines and that will improve gas milage.... hell they could probably use some loophole and spin that the car only runs on 15 % gas and 85% Ethenol. The accounting would be 15% gasgets 30 mpgso if it were100 pecent gas it would get 200 mpg.
4. Combine the concepts. All ethenol and electric hybrid. This would really dump on foreign oil.
5. Smaller engines and many more turbos.
5. Dump some of the frivolous options that add weight andredesign some as more aerodynamic vehicles.
