I have a 2000 SS with 66,000 miles. The other night when I was coming home from work I drove 1 block made a right hand turn and she shut off. I still had interior lights and dinging with the key in the ignition when I opened the door but she wouldn't start. Even tried to jump it. Had the car towed to the dealer the next morning. They've had it since yesterday morning did diagnostics no codes came up and she's starting fine for them. Could this recall they never told me about be the problem? I'm afraid to drive the car and have her cut out at night coming home on the GSP with somebody behind me doing 70 mph. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Can I have the link to that? Do you put your VIN in?

Call Chevy GM 1 800 222 1020
They told me 6th gen will be on the ignition list soon but not yet.
If you want to make sure call and give them your vin. They said they no who owns the vehicles
and you will get a notice when you re in for a recall.

Just a word of caution - when referring to "6th Gen" in this thread (or any other recall threads) be careful because technically, as GM and the rest of the world outside of this Forum sees it, the 6th Gen is 2000-07. Just thought I'd mention this as there have been separate recalls made specific to both the 2000-05 and 2006-07.

Ok so a quick update. My car is still at the dealership they called today and said nothing is wrong with it come pick it up. I told the guy about the recall even brought him the list from Edmunds and Motorcross that clearly shows the 2000 Monte is part of this. But he said until GM attaches it to my VIN they won't do anything. So $250.00 later for nothing I pull out of the dealership and go across the street and shut the car off to run in to Wawa on my way to work. I come out turn the key and nothing!! Didn't make a sound! So I get the guy to come over from the dealership he doesn't believe me he gets in turns the key and nothing. Then he asks me for another key if I have one. He tries that nothing! He told me they would push it back across the street and look at it. My husband came to pick me up from work and the car is still sitting in the lot at the store. We took a picture of it with my cell phone so they can't lie and say that they took it across the street and worked on it. I'm so frustrated with these people right now!!

I'm gonna skip this recall and chalk it up to "keeping the car original". Other than the key fob, there are no other keys on my car key ring

ive had my car shut down on me 2x while driving in the past cpl years out of the blue for no reason (fired right back up both times). ive also had the car act like there is no key in the ignition when i try to start. then there is times its knows there is a key but once you try to start it goes dead to the world, after a few tries it starts up. its random. not by any means consistent. if my car can get a new switch (that i have seriously thought of replacing last year before this news hit big) you bet your **** im getting a free part and repair

Keep in mind, crank sensors will make the motor abruptly shut off also.
