That is correct, the Napa Gold and Wix are basically the same.

The only place I've seen around here that carries a Wix is O'Reilly Auto Parts. I'm usually not too particular about an oil filter on the Monte... never seen a reason to get hung up on oil filters. All the people I've talked to, the time I've been working on cars, and the time my dad and anyone else has been working on cars, I have never once heard of an engine failure that was related to an oil filter. I have only heard a few bad things about the Fram, and not many. Everything else is just "I think x is better than y" and so forth, but nothing bad about the other filter. I am, however, particular about a Motorcraft filter on my Torino. Nothing about the quality of hte filter, it's just that when I take the Torino to a show and pop the hood, anyone can glance down and see the oil filter, and I like it to be the Ford filter when they look down there.

As far as the Mobil 1 oil goes... Ithought all Mobil 1 oils said "Mobil 1" too.... oh well, would have to see. I do believe in the full synthetic... I try to avoid getting bored and doing a lot of research on which oil is the best, because if you want to claim Mobil 1 is the best, I can find you a guy who says it's crap and gummed up his engine. If you want to use Royal Purple, I can find you a guy who says Royal Purple breaks down and is nothing but a marketing gimic. Honda forums hate Amsoil, and I can find people who swear Amsoil is nothing but a giant marketing gimmic and sells nothing but crap. Same with Valvoline Synpower.

I usually just use whatever full synthetic oil is on sale. I even put synthetic in my Torino!!! I know some people say the additives aren't right.... well, you can find that about anything. There are a couple of us on the Torino forum now who run full synthetic.... no problems yet.

But about your oil special... you guys are right, it's a great deal... especially when you consider how expensive those Mobil 1 filters are!! Wouldn't even be a bad idea to stock up! Wish I had known when I changed the oil in the Torino not too long ago... used Valvoline Synpower. Of cours,e the parts store wouldn't let me buy the Motorcraft filter I want... could always just grab a filter for the Monte for next time though.
