Default manual trans swap

yeah i have a few projects planned for the winter for the car, not just replace the motor and go lol. i want to convert it to a 4 or 5 speed or even 6 speed manual. does anyone know if there is a tranny that will bolt right into my car? maybe out of a camaro/firebird? i know how to hook up the clutch and all that but i have no idea what tranny i should use. hopefully there is something that will bolt right in.

A t-56 6 speed should bolt onto your engine.

'86 Monte?

Little known info (that Mike from Mike's Montes told me) you can still get the parts right from your GM dealer to swap in a manual trans in to your '81-88 Monte.

See the '78-80 Montes had the option of getting a 3-speed trans in them. And all these parts from the clutch pedal to the bell housing swap right in to an '81-88 Monte.

Of course you'll need to find a 5 or 6-speed trans to use but that shouldn't be too much trouble.

I think they came in the older camaros. I may be wrong. As for it fitting in the car, I have no idea.
