So I replaced my MAF sensor because my CEL was on and the code reader at Auto Zone said it was the Mass air flow code. So while leaving my negative terminal unattached, attached the terminal again and when I have my car "On" without the engine running it shows the CEL light but when I start the engine the CEL light is off. What's wrong here?

 

The battery was disconnected long enough for the system to reset.

 

Every car's CEL comes on when you turn the key to the "ON" position. It lets you know that it still works, and the bulb isn't blown.

Now when you start the car, those lights go away. Sounds like you no longer have an issue.
